The Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University has launched the international scientific conference CITech, dedicated to the memory of Academician Yury Ivanovich Shokin—one of the founders of modern computational technologies in Russia and the CIS countries.
During the opening session, it was emphasized that 2026, declared in Kazakhstan as the Year of Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence, makes the conference agenda particularly significant. The leading role of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of KazNU, founded in 1934, in the development of mathematics, mechanics, and computational sciences was highlighted.
On 31 October 2025, Karaganda Technical University named after A. Saginov hosted a meeting of the Scientific and Technical Council, within the framework of which a scientific presentation was delivered by Academician of the NAS RK, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor Nurlan Mukhanovich Temirbekov.
The presentation entitled “Development of forecasting and exploration technologies for identifying mineral-prospective techno-objects using artificial intelligence” focused on contemporary approaches to geological data analysis based on artificial intelligence methods and digital modeling. The talk addressed issues of automating the processing of geological and geophysical information, integrating machine learning with national digital platforms, as well as prospects for improving the efficiency of geological exploration activities.
The presented results attracted significant interest from the academic staff of the Mining Faculty, which resulted in an active discussion of practical aspects of implementing the proposed technologies. The participants highlighted the high scientific significance of the presentation, its relevance to the development of the mineral resource base, and the prospects for interdisciplinary collaboration in the fields of geoinformatics and artificial intelligence.
In Belokurikha, within the framework of the 10th All-Russian Conference “Spatial Data Processing in Monitoring of Natural and Anthropogenic Processes” (SDM-2025), dedicated to the memory of Academician Yu.I. Shokin, a plenary session was held, at which a presentation was delivered by Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Academician of the National Engineering Academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor N.M. Temirbekov.
The topic of the presentation: “Development of forecasting and exploration technologies for identifying mineral-prospective techno-objects using artificial intelligence”. The Professor emphasized the importance of implementing AI in mineral exploration tasks and in the monitoring of natural processes.
The presentation attracted broad interest among conference participants and contributed to the development of scientific cooperation in the areas of spatial data and digital technologies for the mining industry.
On 4 April 2025, the National Engineering Academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan (NEA RK) hosted a scientific webinar entitled “Computational Information Technologies in Geology and Geophysics.” The event was held in a hybrid format, bringing together leading scientists from Kazakhstan, Ukraine, and the United States.
