A MEETING ON THE APPLICATION OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN GEOLOGY WAS HELD AT THE NATIONAL ENGINEERING ACADEMY OF THE REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN
On June 3, 2025, a hybrid meeting was held at the National Engineering Academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan with the participation of representatives of JSC “National Geological Service” and leading specialists in geology and digital technologies. The meeting took place in a mixed (online and offline) format. Participants discussed current issues related to the implementation of artificial intelligence technologies in geological exploration and geophysical research.
PRESENTATIONS AND KEY IDEAS
A report on the application of AI in geology was delivered by representatives of the academy — Oleg Dmitrievich Gavrilenko and his colleague, who presented examples of using intelligent algorithms to analyze geological data.
Timur Muratovich Bigaliev, a specialist at JSC “National Geological Service,” presented to the participants the project of the Unified Subsoil Users Platform aimed at digitizing geological data and ensuring open access to it for public and private organizations.
During the meeting, an information bulletin was presented featuring key development directions for the industry, including project goals, digitization schedules, and forecasts of AI’s impact on GDP growth across various sectors of the economy. As a result of the meeting, it was decided to expand cooperation in implementing joint projects on the use of artificial intelligence in geology and geophysics.
